Jumptown Big Band will be performing a free outdoor concert at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Wednesday July 20th starting at 7pm celebrating new St. Luke staff members. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a unique variety of big band music spanning nine decades. There will sure to be tunes that all ages will appreciate. There is no dance floor, but dancing will be encouraged. Our outstanding vocalist Claudia Knauer will be featured on several exciting uptempo arrangements as well as a few lush ballads. St. Luke is an inclusive community-centered faith congregation who we are proud to collaborate with on events such as this. Jumptown Big Band will be performing on Sunday June 26th 1:15pm to 3:15pm at Fernhill Park as part of the “Make Music Day PDX” city-wide musical event – free and open to the public. Make Music Day PDX is a musical event dedicated to the celebration of music of all styles performed by groups and individuals from all over the metropolitan area. This year, Make Music Day PDX has teamed up with the City of Portland Sunday Parkways event where streets are closed down for walking and biking. Jumptown Big Band will be performing a mix of classic swing standards, a few contemporary jazz arrangements, and some pop hits. We will feature our fantastic instrumental soloists as well as phenomenal big band vocalist Claudia Knauer. Fernhill Park is located at NE 37th Avenue and Ainsworth Street Portland, OR 97211. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for this free concert.

The pandemic has played havoc on live performances for the band. We were fortunate to have been able to perform live this past year, but the return of a higher number of COVID cases in the community had temporarily reduced the ability for us to provide in-person entertainment. A few of our planned performance opportunities this past year have had to be put on hold. Safety of our clients, patrons, fans, and band members has been our highest priority. As 2022 continues, mask mandates are lifting, performance venues are opening up, and patrons are itching for more events. So please continue to check back for upcoming performances. We are already planning to return to live performances soon with some exciting events, new music, and unique collaborations!

Jumptown Big Band will be performing on Wednesday August 11th 7:30pm to 8:30pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church for their Midsummer Nights social event. One of many that will be held throughout the summer. St. Luke has been a long time supporter of Jumptown Big Band and it is a treat for us to be able to perform for them and their local community. Our performance will be followed by an outdoor movie. Bring a blanket and lawn chair and join us for this outdoor community event. It feels like the pandemic is getting more under control. There is a sense of pent-up energy and anticipation in people excited to get together again to enjoy big band jazz and swing music. Jumptown Big Band is gearing up to get back into performances. We will keep monitoring the status of public gatherings and events. But please stay tuned for Jumptown Big Band performances in the very near future. We look forward to performing for you all soon!

Like most of the entertainers in the performing arts industry, it has been awhile since we have been able to perform in public. We wanted to provide this update for all our valued clients and devoted fans related to the current global pandemic. Jumptown Big Band performances are currently on hold until jurisdictional authorities determine a stable healthy environment has returned to allow us to once again share the big band jazz music that we all enjoy.

Please know that Jumptown Big Band is thinking about you and your families throughout these trying times. We understand the ever-changing health safety challenge this pandemic is putting everyone through. These difficult times will end. And when they do, rest assured Jumptown Big Band will be back with a renewed excitement and passion for providing you the highest level of professional entertainment.

Jumptown Big Band will be performing on Sunday June 28th 6:15pm to 8:00pm at Laurelhurst Park as part of the “Make Music Day PDX” city-wide musical event – free and open to the public. Make Music Day PDX is a musical event dedicated to the celebration of music of all styles performed by groups and individuals from all over the metropolitan area. Jumptown Big Band will be performing a mix of classic swing standards along with a few contemporary jazz arrangements. Jumptown Big Band will be returning to the Jack London Revue for another exciting evening of big band jazz music. We will be performing some pretty unique big band jazz arrangements that will showcase our outstanding soloists and expose listeners to some music not often performed. Claudia Knauer will be performing a few recent additions to our vocal library. She will also be joined by guest vocalists Julianne Kennedy, Brit Eagan, and Jamie Goetz. This will be a great show! The Jack London Revue is a jazz club located beneath the Rialto Poolroom Bar and Cafe at the intersection of Southwest Fourth Avenue and Southwest Alder Street in downtown Portland. This is a 21+ event.

Jumptown Big Band will be performing at the St. Rose School 2020 Knight of Appreciation - Celebrating 70 Years. This event is an auction fundraiser scheduled for Saturday February 29, 2020 at the Cowlitz Regional Conference Center in Longview, Washington starting at 5:30pm. This event is St. Rose School's largest fundraiser of the year. The event will include a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, and a live auction. Jumptown Big Band will be providing musical entertainment throughout the evening. The proceeds of this event provide additional funding that tuition and fees do not cover. It's Leap Day! Come out on this special day of the year that occurs only every four years. Please show your support of the outstanding students and staff of St. Rose School through your attendance at this wonderful event.

Jumptown Big Band will be performing at the PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center Foundation’s White Christmas Gala on Saturday, December 14, 2019 starting at 6pm at the Cowlitz Regional Conference Center in Longview, Washington. In addition to live music, this holiday themed event will feature cocktails and dinner along with live and silent auctions. Dancing to music provided by Jumptown Big Band will follow the auctions. This is a benefit event for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center Foundation. Show your support for the Foundation by purchasing tickets and donating as indicated on the Foundation’s website.

Jumptown Big Band will be returning to the Jack London Revue for another exciting evening of big band jazz music. We will be featuring some guest vocalists and we will be performing some great instrumental arrangements that will showcase our outstanding soloists. We will be playing music that will be equally exciting for both casual listeners and active dancers.
