Jumptown Big Band will be performing at the PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center Foundation’s Celebrate Home! Fundraising Gala on Saturday, December 14, 2024 starting at 6pm at the Cowlitz Regional Conference Center in Longview, Washington. This holiday themed event will feature music during cocktails, dinner, and silent auctions. An exciting live auction follows. We will provide music for mingling and dancing to close the evening. This benefit event for PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center supports the efforts of the amazing doctors, nurses, and administrative staff that care for the community of Longview and surrounding areas. Jumptown Big Band presents our annual "Fall Swing Dance" Saturday October 12, 2024 at the Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium. This venue has a large dance floor and plenty of parking. Beginner dance lesson starts at 7:00pm with live music from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. We will be performing a variety of musical arrangements programmed specifically for swing dancers. Portland's leading big band singer Claudia Knauer will keep you entertained with her exciting renditions of well-known favorites. A half-hour beginner dance lesson will be provided by professional dance instructor Mindy Barnhart of Stumptown Dance to allow new swing dancers the opportunity to learn some steps and perhaps provide seasoned dancers with a brush up on the basics. Jumptown Big Band will be performing an outdoor concert for the Riverbend Live concert series in Riverbend Park in Winston, Oregon on Friday August 2nd starting at 7:00pm. This concert is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. We will be performing an eclectic variety of big band and swing arrangements that should be of interest to an audience of all musical tastes. Claudia Knauer will be singing some fantastic vocals from the Great American Songbook. We are also once again teaming up with the amazing Newport Nightingales who will be performing three-part vocal harmony tunes in the style of the Andrews Sisters and the Boswell Sisters. Join us for this exciting summer concert in what has been a tradition in Winston for over 25 years.

Ring in the new year with an exciting evening of swing dancing! Jumptown Big Band has been requested to perform for a vintage 1940's themed New Year’s Eve Hangar Dance at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum on December 31st sponsored by Got Your Six Aviation. Doors open at 7:00pm to guests and the midnight champagne toast will be passed around for the 12:00 countdown. Jumptown Big Band performs live music under the wings of the Spruce Goose for your dancing and listening enjoyment from 8:00pm to midnight. Event ends at 1:00am. "Friends of Tillamook Air Museum" is sponsoring an 80th Anniversary event all day August 19th for Hanger B at the Naval Air Station Tillamook. The building was originally constructed in 1942 in support of WWII military activities. It was decommissioned in 1948. The building is currently home to the Tillamook Air Museum. Ceremonies, displays, vendors, and music performances will comprise the daytime public activities. A ticketed dinner and dance will take place starting at 6pm with a silent auction and dinner. Food will be provided by Fat Head BBQ. Jumptown Big Band will provide music for 1940's era swing dancing from 8pm to 11pm. Tickets sales ended for this event on August 12th.

In addition to live music, this holiday themed event will feature cocktails and dinner along with live and silent auctions. Dancing to music provided by Jumptown Big Band will follow the auctions. Jumptown Big Band presents "Swinging Into Fall" - a swing dance event on Saturday October 8, 2022 at the Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium. Beginner dance lesson starts at 7:00pm with live music from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. This venue has a large dance floor and plenty of parking. We are excited to bring back our yearly event at the arts center after suspending it the past couple of years during the pandemic. The dance will focus on swing dance music from a variety of well-known big bands such as Count Basie and Woody Herman. The dance is for dancers of all ages and skill levels. A half-hour beginner dance lesson will be provided by professional dance instructor Mindy Barnhart of Stumptown Dance to allow new swing dancers the opportunity to learn some steps and perhaps provide seasoned dancers with a brush up on the basics. Jumptown Big Band will be performing a free outdoor concert at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Wednesday July 20th starting at 7pm celebrating new St. Luke staff members. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a unique variety of big band music spanning nine decades. There will sure to be tunes that all ages will appreciate. There is no dance floor, but dancing will be encouraged. Our outstanding vocalist Claudia Knauer will be featured on several exciting uptempo arrangements as well as a few lush ballads. St. Luke is an inclusive community-centered faith congregation who we are proud to collaborate with on events such as this.
